OUR BABY IS IN THE HOSPITAL

We got home Thursday and Dominick seemed to be doing much better. He was having so much fun with all his new toys, especially his Jumperoo and Exersaucer. Then we woke up Friday morning to him throwing up with terrible diarrhea. We ended up taking him to the doctor and to have lab work and they said his electrolytes were low and he was already dehydrated. They had to admit him to the hospital, even though we don't have insurance on the poor baby yet. So to make a long story short, after poking him for a steady 45 minutes to draw blood, and then drawing blood 3 other times, they have discovered he has Roto Virus (?spelling). They said he has to have contacted it within the last few days, and it will have to run its course to get out of his system. They will keep him in the hospital until he can eat and have normal bowel movements. He isn't throwing up anymore and is feeling a lot better. He eats crackers and drinks pedialite for now. Poor baby, he looks so cute in his little hospital gown with a little splint on his arm to hold the IV in. I will post pictures when things settle down. I haven't been home, I am at my mother-in-law's house, who lives down the street from the hospital, just to get a bite to eat and update you all. Please keep Dominick in your prayers and pray that our insurance company pays for this lovely hospital bill we now have.

I just heard someone talking about Roto Virus- it's pretty prevalent this time of year. I will keep Dominick and your family in my prayers. And I'll pray for mercy from the insurance company!

Oh my gosh, Lynn! I am so sorry to hear this. Even though Dominick is going to be just fine, I know it's got to be extremely stressful to see your little boy sick and in the hospital. I'm so sorry y'all are going through this.

Prayers are going up for your little man...

Love,
Betsy

I'm sure that this isn't the way you wanted to celebrate his homecoming. Both of my kids had rotovirus when they were less than 2 years old- it is NOT fun, but thankfully it is just a virus that runs it's course- you'll soon forget how bad it was! Hoping he's better soon.

You poor thing. What a scary first week. I will pray for your sweet baby. I am grateful that you were on your way home where he could get great medical care with you. If it had been a visit it would have been so much worse I think. Our insurance works with this kind of situation. You have 30 days to add them and anything that happened in that 30 days can be claimed I think. I hope they are the same. We had this situation when our daughter was born. She was immediately in the NICU. Of course she is fine now.
